Bear

Lou (or Louis) was the cook at Buzzard Billy's whom we all loved for his sense of humor and positive outlook. This is just the first layer.

Scraping Dry Paint

After scraping away the old dried oil paint from the piece of glass that I use for my palette, I was finally ready to paint. Note to self: the longer you wait to scrape it, the harder it is to remove.

"What Painting Is"

"Painting is alchemy. Its materials are worked without knowledge of their properties, by blind experiment, by the feel of the paint. A Painter knows what to do by the tug of the brush as it pulls through a mixture of oils, and by the look of colored slurries on the palette. Drawing, is a matter of touch: the pressure of the charcoal on the slightly yielding, paper, the sticky slip of the oil crayon between the fingers. Artists become expert in distinguishing between degrees of gloss and wetness-- and they do so without knowing how they do it, or how chemicals create their effect."

Man Vs Beast

I happened upon this interesting moment while wandering around the baylor campus. I couldn't believe my fortune. It was totally quiet when my shutter snapped and the student quickly looked back at me. "Hey, I took your picture!" I quickly called out, trying to avoid an awkward moment. He was happy to find out I wasn't with the Lariat (Baylor Newspaper) and didn't plan on putting him front page. He went on to tell me that he often watched squirrels and had heard them bark at him before. That I did not know they could do.
