Most of this morning was freezing! I had about 6 layers on and no jacket, so the wind pretty much cut through me. Then by around 11am the temperature got into the 50's and it became a beautiful sunny day. I couldn't move the scaffolding by myself early on, so I spent the first half the morning going into parts that I hadn't completely flushed out and developed them further. When I had the scaffolding, I immediately began painting the two girl in the top middle. I like what I finished and it was a great feeling to do it, because each of them had given me a minor headache during the drawing stage and I was a little concerned that I wouldn't get it on the first try. This becomes a little daunting when you consider how hard it is to cover over black.
So I feel really good about what I managed to get done today. Tomorrow I get to draw and paint Patrice Pike, who was one of my favorites when I first composed the reference illustration.

Hey man do you have a ladder there you can work on until you can get scaffolding moved?
50 is pretty warm man. Last Friday was -13F. Pray you never have to paint in that kind of weather.

50 is "pretty warm" only if you live in Canada, Jason. Moving from Cyprus to Texas, where the average winter day is in the 60s or 70s... it was pretty cold. I don't have the clothes for it. I got lots of shorts and tshirts, which don't really layer particularly well.
I think one thing great about cold weather is layering. There are so many options for things to wear during that time, like cool jackets or shoes.
So if I ever plan to visit Canada, it's going to have to be in the summer. You should come to Texas in the winter and it would be like a summer day for ya.
