I love sketching with ball point pens. There is so no such thing has erasing, but it shouldn't matter. The mistakes add movement and feeling to the drawing. These were fun doodles.

I got an email today from a journalist named Tonyia Cone who wanted a logo done for her website. She already had the idea she wanted for it and so it was pretty quick for me to illustrate it for her. I finished in about two hours, but I'm not really happy with the lettering. The biggest issue is that it loses it's legibility when you shrink it down to two inches. So it's a work in progess.

This is a little study I did at Hart's N Crafts yesterday, while I was waiting for Alicia to get off work.

This is my baby Jack. He's the cutest and most loving cat, you'll ever meet! We found him abandoned at a gas station while I was still at Baylor. Previously I had always said that I would never pick up a cat like that, but he was such so friendly and wanted so badly to be picked up. When I did, he collapsed in my arms and hid his face in my shoulder. My heart melted and I couldn't put him down. So we decided to just drive back home and see how he did in the car. He slept the whole way. Our intention afterwards was to give him away to someone else, but we never asked anyone. How could we? He's really more a like a dog in many ways, such as how friendly and loving he is to even strangers. He doesn't mind being picked up and he loves to be cuddled. I couldn't ask for a better cat.

Yay! It finally comes together! I've been working hard these last couple weeks to put together this comp and I'm really happy with the way it turned out. A lot of the detail is lost in a picture this small, so unfortunately you'll have to come by the actual mural when it's done to see what I'm talking about... but the picture has a lot of exciting content and is a unique style in mural art. I plan to start within a week and then I have until November 16th to finish it. Which will likely be a whirl wind, but it's manageable. The good news is that it is already scheduled to be featured in at least one magazine, possibly two. The first magazine "Illustration Techniques" is hiring me to write a 4 page article on my process in doing the mural, and the other, "Nu Magazine," is a start up magazine that writes about young up and coming artists. They met me at the "Beyond Scanner" art show and asked if I'd be willing to be a featured artist.
